AYM is a global movement and can be launched anywhere in the world. The organization is incorporated in the State of Wisconsin with a mission to bring people and resources together to extinguish poverty in rural African communities through innovative strategies.
One key strategy is utilizing community resources to create employment, increase economic vitality in rural communities. Another strategy is providing access to education through our Supplementary Programs. There are two approaches to the supplementary education program. One is through online tutoring, and it targets young people in areas where Internet access may be available.
The AYM in the USA serves a coordinating role for the movement abroad and also seeks resources to distribute within deserving communities.
Current and future AYM Chapters will assist with the growth and expansion of other chapters as follows:
- We raise money and other material resources for the Sierra Leone program.
- We manage the recruitment and assignment of online volunteers for our Supplementary Education Program through the United Nations Online Volunteering Services.
- We recruit other chapter leaders and guide them to start a new chapter.
