Creating Jobs and Employment for Youths in Sierra Leone

Did you know…

According to President Bio, in all his policy proclamations, youth (persons 15-35 years) constitute one-third of the population of Sierra Leone, and that 70% lack employment opportunities?

How you can help

Buying into the AYM VISION and MISSION enables you to do good and do well.  In line with the policies of the New  Direction government, a favorable climate exists for social enterprises.  The New Direction is fuel for our creativity and innovation – to create jobs and employment for youths in Sierra Leone.

National stability, peace, and security are not possible if one-third of a nation’s population is unemployed, underemployed, unemployable, unskilled, and lacks opportunities for social mobility.

President Bio is desirous to provide 500,000 youths with jobs and employment within the agriculture and tourism sectors while delivering free education to build a reliable and sustainable human resource pool for national and economic vitality.

Bio believes it is education that will build Sierra Leone.

The AYM headquarter is in Mattru Jong.  Until 2014, we cultivated short-duration vegetables and developed an ecotourism program along the Jong river.

Our Business Innovation and Incubation Center serves as the AYM flagship entrepreneurial concept.  Equipped with 24/7 electricity, the Center had a purified water production system for drinking and washing vegetables from the gardens.

Reliable power – using a combination of solar, wind, and diesel to run our enterprises – from a mini-movie theatre to charging cell phones, motorcycle, and vehicle batteries around the clock.

On a given night, between 3-500 youths will visit the premises for social interactions.  More than 700 people will come through the Center to engage in business or socialize throughout the day.

We closed shop in 2014 due to the Ebola epidemic and theft at the Center.  When we reopened in 2018, we will also have a satellite office in Freetown.

We have three barrels of vegetable seeds in Freetown and actively seeking funds to re-establish the vegetable gardens.  The Center [building] needs complete renovation.  AYM is finding people and asking for money to accomplish these short-term objectives.
