The Twenty-First Century African Youth Movement (AYM) is a social entrepreneurial organization founded by Abu-Hassan (Askia) Koroma in USA in 1991, and has international chapters in Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Sierra Leone.
The international headquarters is currently being established in Mattru Jong, Sierra Leone. AYM is building chapters across Africa, using supplementary education and training to create healthy educational environments for youth development.
Sierra Leone - Key Focus Areas Art AYM utilizes the arts to tell the stories of Africa, and to stimulate people's participation in the renaissance of Africa Agriculture Presently Sierra Leone's largest import is foodstuffs, and because of this fact, AYM has determined to utilize the country's abundant unused fertile land and idle youth by organizing several new community farms and gardens Tourism The tourism industry in Sierra Leone is almost non-existent, yet Sierra Leone is home to vast natural beauty and has been at peace for over 5 years; therefore, AYM is building programs to support both local and international tourism in Jong Chiefdom. African Artville AYM has created a traveling art exhibition from authentic Sierra Leonean artworks, which has been presented at: Porter Butts Gallery, Memorial Union, University of Wisconsin-Madison, February 28 – March 30, 2003 Art and Cultures Gallery, Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 18 – September 18, 2004 VSA Arts of Georgia, Atlanta, March 1 – April 22, 2005 AYM has produced an album by a group of Sierra Leonean musical artists called "The Mixing Crew and the Young Sisters." AYM areas of focus are agriculture, tourism, economic empowerment, health, education, publishing, leisure, and etcetera. Most of these broad-based community development programs utilize volunteer efforts for their success. We have volunteer opportunities available in the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Administration
- Publications
- IT
- Marketing
- African Abroad to Africa Liaisons
- Other (Please Contact AYM for Details)

Education and training are essential mechanisms for economically elevating the youth to make a difference in their communities and transform the future of Africa. Volunteering for AYM is an opportune way to make a positive difference in the life of a young person. AYM needs your help and participation.
